Hi Bold Bakers!

Any Bold Baker should know easy ways to decorate a cake. I have already shared some really fun alternative ways to Decorate a Cake in the past.  I used a simple spoon and fork in my 4 Easy Ways to Decorate a Cake post. I have also shared How to Use Piping Nozzles, where I show you how to utilize the most common piping nozzles found in most kits. Now I am excited to share this new little trick with you for How to Decorate a Cake with Lace. It is a winner, whether you’re a beginner or a pro!

It is no secret that I am not the best cake decorator in the world, far from it actually. I am all about using the simplest of techniques to get great results. For instance, covering a cake from head to toe in sprinkles to create a gorgeous (and might I add flawlessly decorated) Birthday Cake that looks just like something out of a high-end bakery.

I’m a firm believer that you don’t need to make life harder on yourself, you just need to find an easier way to get amazing results. And now you have one!

All you need is a doily, or piece of lace fabric, and some powdered sugar or cocoa powder. This is one of the prettiest and easiest ways I know to take a cake, tart, or batch of brownies from basic to beautiful. This technique will work wonderfully on any dry, flat, cooled, baked good. This will add a lovely touch to even the plainest frosted cake.

How to Decorate a Cake with Lace?

Simply choose your favorite doily or piece of lace fabric, and gently place it on top of your cooled cake, tart, etc. The more holes and designs it has, the more impressive the results will be. Fill a small sieve with your sweet topping of choice, and gently dust a few thin layers until you’ve reached your desired look. Using a light hand, lift the doily up and off the cake in one swift motion. You’ll be left with the most amazing design guaranteed to impress. This is a must try!
