Hi Bold Bakers!

Hi Bold Bakers

In the past you have seen me work all kinds of magic in the microwave. That’s right, the microwave! From Mug Cakes and Mug Meals to Potato Chips and even Popcorn, the microwave is as big a part of any baker’s kitchen as the oven. I know it sounds crazy but the microwave is not to be overlooked as it allows us to save time and believe it or not make really healthy and wholesome snacks your friends and family will go crazy for!

After creating the perfect golden brown and crispy Potato Chips in the microwave you guys asked for more microwave snacks! Well I’m back with 3 new microwave snacks that a truly irresistible. These 3 snacks are naturally healthy, can be be made start to finish in under 5 minuets and will satisfy all of your sweet and salty cravings!

Im so excited for you to try my Microwave Sweet Potato Chips, Microwave Sweet and Salty Nuts and last but not least my savory Microwave Kale Chips. I often found myself picking up these snacks at the grocery store as they are perfect for mid-day munching or entertaining. Well after thinking about it, I realized all these snacks can be made simply and easily at home and better yet in the microwave!

My Microwave Sweet Potato Chips are the perfect accompaniment to all kinds of summer dips, sandwiches and burgers. That said they are perfect all on their own. This snack is as easy as thinly slicing sweet potato, tossing them in just a touch of oil and popping them in the microwave! I love making these at home. The best part is that using the microwave actually allows you to leave behind all of the messy oil these are usually fried in.

My Microwave Sweet and Spicy Nuts are nothing short of addicting! A great trick I learned while experimenting with these recipes is you can actually toast nuts in the microwave! I give cashews, peanuts and almonds a quick toast then toss them in spices, sticky honey and punchy Sriracha. Within minutes these taste like they have been toasted in the oven. You will not believe the results you get after just a short zap in the old microwave.

Lastly, I’m so excited for you to try my recipe for Microwave Kale Chips! This popular health food snack can be found in all kinds of grocery stores. After you give this recipe a try you will be sold. These kale chips are high in fiber, have almost no fat and are are so easy to make. Simply tear your kale into bite size pieces and toss in bit of olive oil. Three minutes in the microwave transforms this humble green into a snack you will crave!

Hi Gemma
I am a big fan of your baking… In the recipe sweet and spicy nuts, can we replace any other spice instead of punchy Sriracha???
Thanks

Hi Gemma,
This recipe sounds intriguing to me. If I want to make a larger batch, can I bake them in the oven?

Hello, I tried making the kale chips on parchment paper and the paper caught fire. Is there a reason this happened?
Thanks!

Gemma,
Can you use this recipe technique to make banana chips? Also, can you use broccoli instead of kale? This is a great snack idea, thanks for sharing it.
