My Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe is what dreams are made of — cakey, perfectly baked cookies with pockets of melted chocolate.

Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Author: Gemma Stafford
Ingredients
  • 1 cup (8oz/225g) butter
  • ¾ cup (4 ½ oz/128g) dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup (4oz/115g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ⅓ cups (11 ½/330g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ⅓ (8oz/225g) bittersweet chocolate (roughly chopped)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl melt the butter. Whisk in the brown and white sugar.

  3. Add eggs, one at a time, whisking until combined after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add flour mixture to butter mixture, and mix in until just combined and a few streaks of flour remain. Lastly, fold in the chopped chocolate.

  5. Using a 2-tablespoon scoop, scoop dough in 26 balls. Briefly roll into balls in the palm of your hand and place 3 inches apart on a prepared pan.

  6. Bake for roughly 11-12 minutes or until centers are puffed and edges are set.

  7. Enjoy warm fresh from the oven! Store cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
