Your toast in the morning will never be the same after you make my Chocolate Compound Butter recipe — a simple way to be indulgent and get your chocolate fix.

Course: Ingredient
Cuisine: American
Servings: 1 cup
Author: Gemma Stafford
Ingredients
  • ½ cup (3oz/85g) semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks/8oz/225g) unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Place the semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 20 seconds at a time, stir and repeat until melted. You can also place the chocolate in a double boiler to melt. Once melted, set aside to cool completely.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine the cooled chocolate, butter, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar until well combined.

  3. Transfer to a piece of plastic wrap and use the wrap to help shape the butter into a log.

  4. Place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, until firm. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or slice and freeze for up to 2 months.
