Ingredients
6 ½cups(2 lbs/921 g) frozen blueberries
1box(15 ¼ oz/432 g) yellow cake mix
1stick(4 oz/115 g) butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with foil and set aside.
Add the blueberries to a 10-inch (1 ¼ liter/6 cup) baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine the cake mix with the melted butter until crumbly, then sprinkle the mixture over the blueberries.
Bake for 45-55 minutes on the baking tray, or until the blueberries are bubbling and the topping is a pale golden brown.
Let cool for 15 minutes, then serve while still warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Recipe Notes
Bake from frozen: We tested this easy blueberry cobbler recipe using frozen blueberries for ease and consistent flavor, but you could also make this with fresh blueberries. You do not need to defrost the berries beforehand.
Fresh option: Frozen blueberries are picked and frozen at peak season, when they are sweet and flavorful, so no extra sugar is needed for the berries. If you use fresh berries, taste them and add a bit of sugar (about ¼ cup {2 oz/57 g}) if they are very tart.
Cakey: The topping will be more crumbly and less biscuit-like than other cobblers you might have seen or made, but this is as delicious as it is easy!
Go citrusy: You can make a lemon blueberry cobbler by using lemon cake mix instead of vanilla cake mix.
Pick your berry: Instead of blueberries, you can use frozen blackberries or mixed berries.
Watch the browning: If the topping gets too brown before the filling is bubbling, then cover loosely with foil for the remainder of the cooking time.
