My Sheet Pan French Toast makes 6 slices of crisp, golden, custardy French toast at once—perfect for a holiday or weekend brunch crowd.

Servings: 6 servings
Author: Gemma Stafford
Ingredients
  • 3 large eggs , at room temperature
  • ¾ cup (6 fl oz / 180 ml) whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt
  • 6 slices brioche bread (about 1 inch / 2 ½ cm thick)
  • ¼ cup (2 oz / 57 g) butter , softened
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
Instructions
To Make the Sheet Pan French Toast
  1. Preheat the broiler on high. Line a baking sheet with foil and generously butter the foil.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt until smooth.

  3. Spread the butter on one side of the brioche slices.

  4. Dip each slice, one at a time into the custard and allow to soak for about 2 minutes on each side. Arrange the slices in a single layer, buttered side up, on the prepared baking sheet.

  5. Sprinkle evenly with the granulated sugar.

To Bake the Sheet Pan French Toast
  1. Broil for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the toast puffed up. (Watch closely to prevent burning.)

To Serve and Store the Sheet Pan French Toast
  1. Serve immediately with maple syrup and fresh berries, if desired. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat briefly in the microwave or in a 350°F (180°C) oven until warmed through.

Recipe Notes
  • You can double this recipe. Be sure to only cook 6 slices at a time. Overcrowding the pan will result in uneven cooking.
  • Watch the oven very carefully. When broiling baked French toast, it can go from toasted to burnt quickly.
  • Really big crowd? To serve a larger crowd, try my Overnight French Toast Casserole.
  • Change up the flavor. You can change the flavor of this French Toast by adding different spices in place of the cinnamon, like cardamom or nutmeg, switching the vanilla extract for a different extract or adding some orange zest.
  • Turn it into a dessert. Serve oven French toast with a scoop of Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and a drizzle of Salted Caramel Sauce.
  • Make Stuffed French Toast. Sandwich two slices of easy baked French toast with homemade Strawberry Cream Cheese and fresh sliced strawberries.
