Dessert Fondue: Easy Date Night Dessert!

Save Recipe

Hi Bold Bakers!

Wow, I do love a good dessert fondue bar! Butterscotch Fondue is a personal favorite and my Butterscotch Dessert Fondue will soon be a favorite of yours too! Usually you see dessert fondue at parties and events but this simple treat is so easy there’s no reason not to make it at home. I’ve swapped out the classic chocolate dessert fondue for my lovely and rich Butterscotch Sauce and, man is it a hit in my house.

Not only is my Butterscotch Fondue super simple to make but it’s really fun to share with someone special. Instead of fussing around in the kitchen trying to impress, you could be making dessert into a fun Date Night activity. I can’t think of a better way to end the evening than dipping lovely little bits of cake, fresh fruit and marshmallows into this rich Butterscotch Sauce. This is such a great way to spend time in the kitchen with your partner. And this sauce also makes a great ice cream topping.

Whether you choose fruit, cake, candy or chocolate, this dip will be a big hit. The Butterscotch sauce is as simple as combining things you most likely have in your kitchen. Butter, cream, brown sugar, vanilla and salt plus a few minutes cooking–then voila, you have this decadent sauce. In the time it takes you to make the sauce you can prepare a number of fruit skewers, cubes of cake and marshmallows. Trust me, this dessert will have them swooning!

happy anniversary kevin and gemma! may you continue to give unconditional love to each other!
i always have a problem identifying cream here in my country, the philippines. when i look at the video, it looks like milk to me. but i know it isnt. is it the same as nestle cream or all purpose cream?
    thankyou!

    • Gemma Stafford on October 29, 2017 at 12:13 pm

      Thank you so much, Judy!!!

So If memory serves I think it is Nestle whipping cream that you can use in the Philippines. Cream is different in every country. In the US we have different cream then I am used to in Ireland. If you are not looking to whip this cream and want to use it in this butterscotch sauce then use all purpose cream 🙂

Good luck with your recipe. 🙂

I have made this twice. 1st as written…it was wonderful! We used it on popcorn. 🙂
I just made it again using coconut oil, cocount cream, and sugar substitue (with molasses added to made it brown sugar). It turned out great also! Made it with same instructions. It hasn’t competely cooled yet but it does seem a bit thinner than the regular version. Thanks so much!

Happy anniversary Gemma & Kevin! My husband & I also met online & we celebrated our 17th anniversary in July.

This sauce also looks perfect for Holiday parties. Easy, rich & a change from all the chocolate! Definitely will be using.

Gemma is this you personally replying to this or you have appointed anyone else ….I am just asking don’t mind it …. because I thought you must be busy in searching recepie and making videos so can’t reply to each n everyone’s comments

    • Gemma Stafford on October 27, 2017 at 2:23 am

      Good question Tanmayi,
most of the time I get to the comments here, but sometimes Olivia, my assistant calls the questions when I am doing other things. We have to work as a team these days. Now it is late, and I am ready for bed, so I get to as many Website comments as I can.
      nighty night!
      Gemma 🙂
