Homemade Dog Treats
Save RecipeHi Bold Bakers!
For those of you who don’t know, I am a huge dog lover! I grew up in Ireland with dogs and since moving to California, Kevin and I have been proud owners of the world’s sweetest pup, Waffles! My dog Waffles is a 4 year old, Terrier Lhasa Apso mix. We rescued him 3 years ago from a great facility here in Los Angeles called NKLA. This organization rescues dogs from high kill areas and gives them a better chance of survival and a better chance at finding their forever home. We are so grateful to have him!
Those of you who have pets can probably agree, making wholesome food for your pets is just as fun and satisfying as sharing homemade treats with your friends and family! With this in mind I’ve whipped up 3 no-bake frozen dog treats. Made with just a few all natural ingredients (and of course dog safe), these frozen dog treats actually have loads of benefits for your dog. You will love having these homemade treats on hand and your dogs will go crazy for them!
These simple dog treats utilize ingredients you will most likely have in your fridge. I bet you never knew things like yogurt, berries, bananas, peanut butter and chicken stock can be combined to make super healthy dog treats. All 3 of these recipe are all either quickly blitzed up in the blender or mixed in one bowl. After you try these for yourself you will never want to buy store-bought dog treats again! I know your pups will love them!

Hi Gemma, our Doberman is allergic to chicken so could I use Beef broth instead? Do you think blueberries would go with that? Do you have any other recipes that would be good for her and a min pin which doesn’t contain chicken that I can make for them?
Thanks for this recipe and the yogurt and blueberries with strawberries which I am getting ready to make
Hi Renee,
That is one spoiled doggie! Haha! these are wonderful dogs too.
You can of course use a beef broth, though it is not always easy to get a supply of good quality beef bones to make your own, and that would be ideal. I think the blueberries will not be an issue for the dog, not sure about the humans!
Some dog biscuits here for you too, we will add to these as time goes on.
Thank you for being here with us,
Gemma 🙂
Thank-U for the Recipes….
Need more recipes without Peanut Butter
Mine Developed an Allergie so…

Hi Rita! Have you tried my Homemade Ice Cream for Dogs recipe?
Hey Gemma!
These look great! By any chance, do you think you have any recipes for baked dog treats? I’d love to try them out.
Hi there,
Here is a baked one (https://www.biggerbolderbaking.com/homemade-dog-biscuits/) you can vary this to suit your ingredients and your dog too,
Gemma 🙂
These are awesome. I never thought of using yogurt- I use coconut milk. Yogurt has the probiotics the dogs need. Thanks for sharing. I am on a Gemma recipe marathon this week. 🙂 I just discovered you and am amazed. Keep up the awesome work. Your passion for cooking really transpires well through your videos.
Thanks a million Lisa for the lovely comment. I’m really glad you like my recipes. Glad to have you as part of the community 🙂
Gemma.
I made the peanut butter banana and yogurt and berries treats for my dog Earl. I made heart shapes instead of the bones because they were a little smaller. I tried to upload a picture, but it’s not showing for some reason. Thanks Gemma for everything you do! You do amazing work!
Hi there,
well done you! I moderate the photos, so I will be doing this in a few minutes, we have had a few gremlins in the website!
Thank you for letting us see your results, I am happy that you are baking with us,
Gemma 🙂
Hey Gemma I wanted to know could u do diabetic recipes
Hi Adrienne,
The dog treats here are made with natural, unsweetened yogurt, peanut butter, and fruits. You can make your own peanut butter, without sugar!
(https://www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-homemade-peanut-butter/) you can make this yourself too!
I hope I understood what you meant, good that you are here with us,
Gemma 🙂
These are simply the most beautiful dog treats I ever saw! It takes talent to think of making dog treats like these. I have given homemade bikkies as gifts, but these will really make them special the next time I do so. These are perfect for Christmas gifts to canine friends. Thank you. Waffles is beautiful, by the way!
Hi Philippa,
Yes, you can indeed eat these, and they will be very good for you too!
You can get creative with these treats, just make sure that the ingredients you use are doggie friendly. Peanuts are not really a nut, they are more related to peas/beans etc. Not all nuts will be good for doggies!
Thank you for your kind words,
Gemma 🙂
