I made basic vanilla cake. It came out well. But it did not get flat surface. It’s shape was like mountain. Why so? And it got thin crisp layer like biscuit on the top of cake but cake was spongy from inside. I am attaching link of images here so that you can see and tell me where I went wrong. Thank you 🙂

The top of the cake was close to the heat resulting in it to be like a crisp layer. If you added baking powder or soda, the cake will rise.

I love it when this happens! I call it the bakers entitlement piece 🙂
I cut it off to make the top of the cake even, then get to eat that part! Yum.
As long as the rest of the cake was ok and everyone liked it then it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Now you get Extra Cake all to yourself!

I made the three layer microwave cake. I cut off the night bits but still had gaps when I tried to ice, which i filled generously with buttercream icing What do you do when this happens.
